At Enerdeal, safety is not merely a legal obligation, it is a true mindset. Obtaining the VCA certification (Safety, Health and Environment Checklist for Contractors) marks a new milestone in our ongoing commitment to a safe working environment aligned with the most demanding industry standards.
What exactly is VCA?
Recognised across Europe, the VCA certification sets a strict standard for safety, health and environmental management. It is primarily aimed at technical companies operating on high-risk worksites, often as subcontractors.
Being certified means demonstrating that a structured risk management system is in place, that teams are actively trained, and that a clear accident prevention policy is applied. It also ensures full compliance with applicable legal requirements, particularly in Belgium.
Why Enerdeal chose to take this step
Three main reasons motivated our decision:

Safety is non-negotiable. We do everything possible to ensure a secure working environment and to minimise all risks, even minor ones.

Today, certification is an essential prerequisite for working with major clients. It also aligns with the internal standards of our international group.

Incidents are costly, both humanly and operationally. VCA helps structure our HSE approach and avoid unforeseen issues.
A rigorous collective compliance process
The certification journey was demanding and built step by step, with strong involvement from many Enerdeal teams.
• A trained and committed prevention advisor
Our colleague Noël Coenen, responsible for the project, completed advanced training at Securex and passed his exam with distinction. He coordinates the implementation of field practices, bridges the gap between regulations and real-life operations, and ensures rigorous follow-up.
• A complete inventory of our equipment
We reviewed all our equipment, including:
- Collective protection systems (e.g. RSS fall protection systems)
- Electrical tools subject to annual inspection
- Equipment for temporary work at height
Every item is now tracked, controlled, and documented for full traceability.
• Certified personnel across the organisation
At Enerdeal, safety concerns everyone. That is why the entire team, including management, has obtained certification:
- B-VCA for field teams
- VOL-VCA for supervisors
This approach ensures a unified safety culture at all levels.
