Enerdeal, a leading renewable energy solutions provider that joined the EDP group in 2023, will be responsible for the implementation of two solar projects, including a 5 MWp rooftop installation and a 2 MWp carport system at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company facilities in Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg.
The solar panels will be installed across Goodyear’s research, development, and industrial complex, which includes various factories and facilities in Colmar-Berg, Bissen, and Dudelange. The energy generated by these projects, totaling approximately 6,500 MWh annually, will be consumed on-site by Goodyear. Overall, this initiative is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by around 3,000 tons per year, highlighting both companies’ commitment to decarbonization and environmental management.
Under the terms of a 20-year agreement, the distributed solar power generation projects will be implemented under an “as-a-service” model, where 100% of the investment is covered by EDP, and the financial benefits of the installation are shared between the companies.
In 2021, to help reduce its carbon footprint, Goodyear announced its global goal of transitioning to fully renewable energy for its operations and manufacturing processes by 2040, with a mid-term target of 100% renewable electricity in its manufacturing operations by 2030. Additionally, in 2021, Goodyear made the proactive decision to source 100% renewable energy via certificates for its plants across Europe and Turkey. Today, Goodyear has on-site solar panels at 10 facilities worldwide, with a total capacity of 30 MW. This installation will be the fifth in EMEA and the eleventh globally.

Scheduled to be operational by early 2025, these projects are fully aligned with Goodyear’s sustainability goals.
