Teams from Sonaca and Neopark* (a joint venture between Enerdeal and CENEO) have signed a contract to cover up to an additional 12 per cent of Sonaca’s electricity requirements by fitting photovoltaic panels to the roofs of buildings at the Gosselies site. This new installation, with a capacity of over 3 MWp, will generate approximately 3 GWh/year of solar energy – equivalent to the annual consumption of nearly 900 households.
The installations will be located on the Green building, the Assy factory and the F-35 building, and are expected to come online gradually from the final quarter of 2024. They will cover an area equivalent to 5 hectares of solar panels.
With its existing installations, Sonaca already had a coverage rate of 5 per cent. These future installations underpin Sonaca’s ambitions to decarbonise its production sites and thus contribute to the goal of reducing Sonaca’s emissions by 40 per cent by 2030.
